LEGO club

Existing club members are sent details of how to book their attendance for each meeting.
Please note: this Club is only open to those who have been formally accepted after reaching the top of our waiting list.

What is this?

The club, for children aged 8 to 13, is run by a very experienced volunteer leader, Carolyn, a Speech and Language Therapist, ably assisted by local volunteers.

We apply the Lego Therapy framework. LEGO Therapy involves building LEGO models in small groups or pairs where the children take on different roles and work together. The children are encouraged to practice turn taking, sharing, joint problem solving and general social communication skills.

The cost per session is £2.50 per child. Each session will build on the previous one, so it is essential that the children attend regularly.

The club is currently full. To express an interest in your child joining the waiting list for this club, please complete this form and return to us. We will then let you know when a vacancy arises. PLEASE NOTE: We have been advised that, unfortunately, this type of therapy is not successful with children who have an ADHD or PDA diagnosis.

This club is available to branch member families only, therefore if you haven’t yet joined our branch, please also complete a membership form in addition to the expression of interest form for this club

We are most grateful to Carolyn and our volunteers for offering their services and to Jo (who initially set up the group for us) and Sarah-Jane who made a very generous donation which enabled us to purchase a quantity of LEGO and get this activity underway.

Meeting dates and details

Our monthly LEGO club runs at:

Chandlers Ford Methodist Church, Winchester Road, SO53 2GJ from 2.00 to 3.15pm. The club will usually take place on the same Saturdays as our Family Youth Club – the 4th Saturday of the month (but please check on our Diary dates page).

In order to ensure the safety and security of all those taking part in this activity and to comply with our insurance obligations, our safeguarding and child protection policy, and the conditions of hire of this facility we ask that you observe the following:

  • Please DO NOT ATTEND if you, any of your household or anyone you have recently been in contact with, feel unwell or have symptoms of COVID-19.
  • If you develop symptoms of COVID-19 during the meeting you will be asked to return home.
  • Parents/carers are responsible for their children/young people at all times and must remain on site during the activity, however we do offer a separate room for parents supported by one of our committee members.
  • Government advice is to consider wearing a face covering in crowded, enclosed spaces. The wearing of face coverings inside the building is optional – please respect people's choices*.
  • We ask that an adult accompanies their child/young person to the toilet.
  • Please wait outside the venue until the club is set-up and ready to run, following directions from our volunteer helpers.

*Please note: we may have to impose tighter restrictions if there is a significant increase in COVID-19 cases locally.

Free parking is available behind the Church (or in the nearby Fryern Shopping Arcade if the church car park is full). Please enter the church via the central rear door from the car park to access the upstairs rooms that we use.
